A Happy New Year!

It has been a while since my last blog post...I know. And this will be a pretty short one, unfortunately. Since Grand Nationals in October we've really been focusing on our pup Chipper and working with him. Training pups isn't too interesting but it is rewarding for those involved. Chipper has been to a fantastic 5 acre starting pen and started jumping and running his own rabbits there. We got to hear his mouth for the first time when we went to go pick him up and it was great! He has a wonderfully deep and gravelly voice that is some combination of a squall and chop! Very unique.

Since he's been home we've been taking him out with our grown dogs to run and he's been progressing well. My husband and I got to take off the whole week after Christmas so we've been trying to run as much as possible. Little Chip has really, really impressed us the last few times we've been out!

He has contributed his fair share to most races with his wonderful voice and kept up with our dogs well! Ours run very fast, especially together, and Chip has done a great job keeping up and he's actually gotten a few nice checks on our old hounds! We haven't had the opportunity to shoot any of the rabbits to him yet; just our luck! But we have a few more hunts scheduled before we go back to work so we're really hoping to get one shot to him before it's all said and done.

Right now my husband and I are trying to sell our house and move into a place with more space and land so we have more room for a family and more beagles! After we find it we plan on getting a new prospect, most likely a little redtick female pup. So there is a lot more in store for Durbin's Hunting Beagles!

Jon and the hounds!

We hope everyone has a very happy new year!
