Shortie's First Win!
Following our first trial experience we all decided to give the field trials one more go and went to pay County Line Beagle Club a visit in Stanford, KY. With about an hour drive I had plenty of time to get nice and anxious for Shortie's hopeful debut in the trial world. As luck would have it there were plenty of entries in the opens class and Shortie was drawn for cast 1 (out of 3).
Shortie ended up getting second place in his cast; his score was good enough to place him 5th overall in the hunt for opens and he accrued 20 points towards his rabbit championship! After receiving his pretty pink ribbon for 5th place we were also informed that Shortie was now qualified to enter the ARHA World Hunt in April! I also decided to enter him in his first ever bench show but unfortunately he didn't place. Being his first trial and bench show he was antsy on the bench and wouldn't stand still very well - hearing this again from the judge also confirmed my desire to practice more for the bench while at home. Over all we had a great time and had the opportunity to meet many more folks in the beagling world! After a good day we were definitely looking forward to our next trial opportunity!
